What to Expect Before & After
BEFORE YOUR NEUROTOXIN APPOINTMENT :

Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen, and aspirin 48 hours before treatment as this can increase your chances of bruising after injection. If you take blood thinners or other anticoagulants, we need to know as this can increase your chance of bruising as well.
You may have coffee/caffeine before you see us!
If you have a facial infection or rash, let’s clear that up first. If you are sunburn, we may need to reschedule.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Expect to see results in 3-7 days post treatment.
You may experience slight pain or bruising at the injection sites – this is normal. We will send you home with little ice packs to help. You may notice little bumps (similar to a mosquito bite) after treatment. These will go away shortly after treatment (about 10 mins after). Do not apply pressure or massage these sites.
You may have a numbness or pressure sensation on your forehead. A mild headache is common with Botox treatments, usually lasting one day. If it persists, or you develop a migraine, it is likely unrelated to your treatment and should be followed up by your Primary Care Provider.
In rare cases ptosis (drooping) of the brow or upper eyelid post injections may occur. While we try our very best to ensure a safe and effective outcome, this can happen.
If you develop a high arched brow (sometimes called a spok brow), please get in touch with us and we will remedy this. Spok brows can occur when not enough product is injected into the lateral frontalis – an easy fix!
You should not workout after treatment. This can mildly displace your treated areas!
Applying sunscreen or makeup after treatment is ok. Keep wearing your sunscreen every day. The sun is the number one cause of premature aging!
Do not book a massage within 48 hours post treatment (or other treatment when you would lay face down).
Avoid facials for 3 days post injection.
Neurotoxin is temporary. Results usually last anywhere from 3-4 months. If you’re happy with your results (which we hope you are), know that you will have to continue getting treatments If you are not happy with your results, please let us know! We are always willing to talk about your concerns, this is how we improve our practice.

If you donate blood regularly please share with them that you get Botox for cosmetic indication.
If you have an upcoming Lasix eye appointment, please share this information with us.
If you are currently taking antibiotics, please talk to us about this. Certain antibiotics can increase or decrease the effectiveness of your neurotoxin!
Please notify us if you take muscle relaxants.
