Frequently Asked Questions
What is Botox? Botox is a Neurotoxin. There are four FDA approved Neurotoxins on the market : Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, and Xeomen. These are safe, FDA approved medications. These drugs relax the muscle, which in turn causes fine lines or wrinkles to relax or smooth out. Neurotoxin is not filler! Two different drugs working in two different ways.
How soon will I see the results? Expect a delayed result! Botox has the longest response time of 5-10 days! You will not notice a change immediately so plan accordingly! The other 3 neurotoxins on the market have a quicker response time of 3-5 days or 3-7 days. Gradually, over a week or so your expression lines will smooth out.
How long does Botox last? Neurotoxin will last 3-4 months and gradually your fine lines and wrinkles will return. Neurotoxin is metabolized by the body so if you are a person who works out regularly, you may need treatment more often! Also, males usually require more drug and often get treated more frequently due to this same reason.
Will I get numbing medication before my injection? We will not use local or topical anesthetics- this can weaken the neurotoxin results! A very small needle is used to inject a small about of medication to specific areas during your treatment. It is mildly uncomfortable but tolerated my most clients.
What happens if I don’t like my result? There is no “ reversal” of the drug but over time it will wear off and normal function will return. We prefer a less is more approach and if you are hoping for more of a dramatic result, we can always adjust the dose or have you return for a touch up after treatment.
Which medication should I get? I will discuss this with you. Some people have had a previous experience with a certain medication and prefer it for a variety of reasons. We will choose one that is best for you!
